Two Podiums for Cycle Stars
Cycle Stars won two podium postions in the first closed circuit event of the season, and the first race at the new Evesham Velo. This was the first curcuit event hosted by Cycle Stars on behalf of Briish Cycling.
Josh racing in the U10 category had an amazing start, moving rapidly to the front and gaining 5 bike lengths over his rival Ted and Milo, who was chasing hard.
Finding himself in a isolated postion, Josh had no one to work with began to tire, his opponents Ted and Milo were able to bridge the gap and pass. Josh managed an amazing 3rd place, commented, that maybe he did go off a bit fast. Team mate Seb also had a good start but just couldn't get up to Josh to help, and finished a respectable 7th Place. Joey riding his first race for Cycle Stars also had a great race at the back of the field. Joey led a group of riders for a few laps before his energy sapped and was overtaken, despite this Joey enjoyed himself and can't wait to race again.
Izzy had a great race for the girls, taking 2nd in the girls U12 category. Izzy didn't get the fast start she would've liked, but she is a strong rider and worked her way through the field, helped along by Matthew from Beacon Cycling, Matthew is a friend of Cycle Stars and trains regular with Izzy at Cycle Stars open club coaching sessions. Another female Cycle Star was Frankie riding in the girls U12 category, got a great start and was up with the leading bunch at the first corner. Frankie was the 5th fastest girl in the U12 category.
Theo was racing for Cycle Stars in the boys U12, was having to ride his Dad's bike, after having his stolen the week before. He didn't dissapoint and was soon mixing it with groups of riders, finishing 11th. Theo can't wait to race again, this time on a new bike donated by his church group. Tom competing in his first race, was a bit hesitant to begin with, but slowly found his confidence and was seen riding at a good pace. Sadly Tom fell on the damp track, finishing his event early. He was a bit shaken having come down hard, but he is ready to race and has a new bike to try out.
All riders will be competing in the West Midlands Youth Cycle Series.
